Recently I had my gas HVAC air balanced. The tech said (I think ) he turned up the burner or something in addition to increasing air flow to certain rooms) Soon after when we needed heat the heat would run for 30 minutes . In the past this NEVER happened. I don’t think it ever ran for more that 5 min. at a time. I thought it was short cycling. I called ecobee and they have me chasing my tail. I insulated the thermostat hole with plumbers putty in the wall because they thought it was a wall draft. Then they said it was the placement of the thermostat directly over the main return vent. I’m getting bounced between the HVAC company and Ecobee. Any idea what is going on. I turned off most of the eco + features including the heat/humidity option. Is this bad? Is my HVAC running too long and just how is it effecting the life of the system? My stats are showing 14 hours for runtime the month oc October and this is definitely off. Some of that time was a result of the system being on while they were balancing things. In Mass and I’m a dummy in understanding the graphs etc . Thanks

Only thing I can think of is that you have a multi stage furnace but the low stage wasn’t previously enabled. Now it’s running longer in a low stage which is a good thing. Just a theory.
While I don’t have forced air, I had over 30hrs of runtime in October (ecobee’s monthly report hasn’t finished for me yet) also in MA.
5 mins at a time would be short cycling. A 30 min runtime does seem a little long for hot air. What is the source, gas, oil, or heat pump?
Do you have a thermometer to compare the ecobee to?
Please post all your ecobee settings In addition to the beestat screenshots mentioned above.
