“Time to heat” is “Unknown”, min data required?

Hello!

Before I launch into my question, I just want to give a great big Thank You to you Jon! I am a previous user of a Nest thermostat, and was incredibly disappointed by the lack of analytic insights on that platform. This especially came to light when I wanted to compare the before and after of replacing the insulation in my attic. I was not able to accomplish this on the Nest, and hence ditched the platform.
Having had an ecobee and BeeStat for a few days now, it’s a vast improvement. I’m super appreciative of the effort you have put into this platform.

Now onto my question:
I checked the documentation, and that didn’t have an answer, but how much data does BeeStat need to calculate the “time to heat” metric?
I have had my thermostat for 5 days now, and am particularly interested in this metric. Does it require a weeks worth of data, or a month?

Thank you!

Glad it’s been useful for you! There is no magic amount of time it takes to generate this data. Beestat just gathers data points and once there’s enough of them to generate a not-awful estimate it’ll show it. For a home that is actively heating in a cold season, I’d say maybe a couple weeks max should get you something, and it will refine itself over time.
