I have 2 ecobee thermostats and when I tried to update the name of one of them it updated the wrong thermostat in Beestat. They both are name the same so I suppose that’s why, but anyway to work around this to properly update in beestat?

I would be highly suspicious of that. Beestat links everything up using the thermostat serial number so there shouldn’t be a path where the wrong one could be changed. Can you send a screenshot of the web portal “About” page where it shows your thermostat name and serial number and then the Thermostat Info in beestat?
I’m 100% sure it renamed the wrong device in beestat. Me 2nd device has been offline(summer place) since Oct 18th. When I renamed my primary device at home it updated the summer place thermostat with no recent data in beestat. Summer place has 0 sensors and is offline so no question I updated the name of the correct one in ecobee app.
Here’s what beestat has. The one currently named “ThermostatRename” has three remote sensors and is currently online and receiving data.
The one currently named “Thermostat” has no remote sensors and appears to have been disconnected since October 18.
I included last four digits of each thermostat’s serial number below for you to compare against. In your beestat screenshot, you are showing the blue “Thermostat” one with no sensors and no data. If you click on the top right where it says ThermostatRename it’ll show you the other one.
Yup, I didn’t include that image last night. This image from beestat is showing the sensors/stats of the thermostat I actually renamed. I’ve renamed it back and forth and every time it renames the wrong one in beestat. Very odd if it’s being driven off serial…which I would expect.
It’s not even possible for me to rename the wrong device in ecobee because the summer place isn’t even powered on so it’s unreachable in the ecobee app.
I’m sorry if I’m missing something, but I still honestly do not see any issue.
In my yellow/blue highlighted screenshot earlier, I showed “ThermostatRename” with serial ending in 1250 and three remote sensors. This seems to align with your description of the main thermostat which has three sensors and is the one you renamed.
Could you rename one, then post a screenshot of the ecobee website or app that shows both the thermostat serial number and the thermostat name on the same page? I’ll compare everything against that source of truth.
