Upgrading Ecobee - best practices?

Planning to upgrade my Ecobee 3 to the latest Premium model. Is this the best method to follow?

  1. Record all settings from current Ecobee (since they cannot be transferred to a new model)
  2. Factory reset old Ecobee
  3. Install and configure new Ecobee with recorded settings

As I understand it, HomeIQ data from Ecobee account will be lost but Beestat.io data will not (or should not) be lost. Is this because Beestat is storing the data somewhere on your own servers?

Beestat stores all the data locally, but I have to manually link the old data to the new thermostat. Easy to do, so just reach out when you’re ready with one of the two serial numbers.
